Parenchyma Preserving Surgery in Giant Hydatid Cyst of Lung: A Case Report

Cystic echinococcosis (CE) is parasitic infestation characterized by the development of cyst as a consequence parasitization humans larval stages cestode Echinococcus granulosus. We present case 66 years old man who presented with history dry cough, mild fever and occasional shortness breath for 1 year, which was gradually progressive no chest pain or weight loss. Chest x-ray revealed well-circumscribed homogenous opacity in right hemithorax. Computed tomography (CT) large cystic lesion 18× 15 × 14 cm hemithorax involving whole lower lobe causing compression atelectasis middle lobe. The patient underwent lung preserving surgery cystectomy capotionnage. discharged on 6th postoperative good clinical radiological outcome. This report highlights that lung-preserving can be performed giant hydatid cysts
